WWII Multi Piece Nazi Flag

A classic "old school" NSDAP multi piece flag from Bonner Fahnenfabrik, Bonn a. Rhein. The flag has a lot of (crazy) history but I agreed with the seller I wasn't going to share it in public. What I can say is it was capture in Cologne on 7th of March 1945, Germany when the allied forces took the city.

The manufacturer

What is also kind of crazy is that the Bonner Fahnenfabrik was actually jewish owned. It had been a family business for many years and when the Nazi's came to power and the nuremberg race law was enacted the flag factory kept on going and produced flags for the very people that tried to wipe them of the earth. I im not into the politic things! I collect flags because the fascinate me along with the history, but I find it kind of fascinating that you hold on the your company regardless. You can read more about the company and how they navigated through the nazi regime on wiki (use Google translate if needed).

The flag and design

Now back to the flag. It shows a lot of wear and moth holes throughout and has a wooden toggle along with "rail road" header. Fabric is wool and swastika piece is cotton sewn on to the fabric. It also shows some fraying on one corner and has reinforcements at the header. The flag has the classic "wool attic" smell and is a bit fragile due too its age. It measures around 93x150cm unstreched.

This flag is one of my few multi piece constructions and due to its history one of my favorit flags.

Final thoughts

I really want to tell the whole story but I cant... I have ofc. archived everything about this flag so the history will be kept with it. This is also a reminder to everybody else. If you have written statements or anything else (trustworthy) please ensure to keep it with the item, this goes with any item not just war relics. Once they are separated the history is gone forever :/
